Strengths-based working asks: What are people good at? What resources do they have? What can they be proud of? What gives them strength? While difficult topics may arise, focusing on what people care about and are passionate about, makes it easier for people to work with support workers, housing management teams, and others.  

But are the teams we manage, set up to be able to work in this way? That’s where senior managers can step up. Organisational leadership can recognise what’s getting in the way of their teams being able to work in a strength-based way and empower change that supports and values this approach.

What’s involved in the strength-based leadership approach?

This one-day facilitator-led course draws on Platfform’s 30 years of experience and lived experience to provide effective support for sustainable wellbeing.

It gives leadership teams a deeper understanding of strengths-based approaches by examining current deficit-based systems and their role within them.

The session offers an open, interactive space for meaningful reflective practice, encouraging leadership teams to discuss their working culture and how strengths-based practices can be enhanced. It enables senior leaders to reflect on their role as either a barrier or enabler to change– and to hold that space for discussion and shared learning in a safe way.

It also focuses on how leaders can influence or change these conditions for the benefit of all.
